Welcome to Our Home

It All Started With One Gentle Giant

Over a decade ago, our first tri-colored Bernese Mountain Dog walked into our home—and completely redefined what we thought a family dog could be. With her soulful brown eyes, thick bear-like paws, and the unmistakable "Berner lean" against our legs every evening, she became the heartbeat of our household.

When we began researching the breed deeply, we realized how hard it was for families to find a breeder who prioritized both **verified genetic longevity** (OFA hips, elbows, cardiac, and DM clearances) and **true indoor family raising** without outdoor kennel runs.

That realization gave birth to Johnson Family Bernese. We made a pact from our very first litter: we would never raise puppies in barns or sheds, and we would never treat puppies like inventory. Every litter is whelped beside our bedroom, raised in the center of our kitchen and living room, and placed thoughtfully into homes that cherish them as true family members.

Our Evolution

How Johnson Family Bernese Grew

Chapter 01

Our First Berner

One tri-colored female stole our hearts and introduced us to the unmatched loyalty, intelligence, and gentle majesty of the Swiss Sennenhund.

Chapter 02

Health & Lineage Study

Before ever breeding a litter, we spent years studying European and North American pedigrees, Berner-Garde longevity data, and OFA health protocols.

Chapter 03

Home-Raised Standard

Word spread among families and veterinarians about the calm, confident temperament of our kitchen-raised puppies, building a community of repeat owners.

Today

A Lifelong Extended Family

We remain intentionally small and selective—pouring our full attention into every litter and staying connected with our puppy families for life.

Our Commitment to You

What Our Family Promises Yours

Bringing home a Bernese puppy is a major milestone. Here is the standard we hold ourselves to on every single placement.

01

Comprehensive Genetic & Orthopedic Screening

Every parent in our program is screened for hip and elbow dysplasia (OFA/FCI), cardiac health, eyes, DM (SOD1-A & B), and vWD—backed by our written health guarantee.

02

Complete Transparency & Weekly Updates

From the moment you reserve your puppy, you receive authentic weekly photos, videos, weight milestones, and veterinary checkup reports—never stock photos or guesswork.

03

Calm, Kid-Proofed Socialization

Because our puppies grow up alongside our family, they arrive in your home already familiar with crate rest, grooming touches, household noises, and gentle play.

04

Lifetime Breeder Support & Safe Harbor

Our relationship doesn't end on pickup day. Whether you have a nutrition question at 6 months or a training question at 6 years, we are always a phone call away.
